Media Literacy

That is one of the most vital and evolving programs of the Communication and Research Foundation (CRF). Designed as a multi-layered initiative, it engages with a wide range of stakeholders who shape, influence, and interact with the media ecosystem.

At its core, CRF’s Media Literacy program focuses on strengthening the professional capacity of journalists working across print, electronic, multimedia, and online platforms. Through specialized trainings, the program enhances skills in ethical reporting, responsible storytelling, effective use of technology, and the integration of artificial intelligence in news production. These trainings are tailored to meet the changing demands of modern journalism while upholding professional standards and public trust.

Beyond technical skills, CRF places strong emphasis on the ethical, psychological, and spiritual well-being of media professionals. In light of recent developments—including the tragic death of senior journalist Bhibu Ranjan Saha—serious attention has been drawn to the mental health challenges faced by journalists. Responding to this critical need, CRF has developed a dedicated module focused on psychological support, emotional resilience, and inner well-being, recognizing that healthy journalism requires healthy journalists.

The Media Literacy program also extends beyond newsrooms. CRF is currently piloting a separate module aimed at politicians, talk show participants, and other public-facing individuals who regularly engage with the media. This component is designed to improve media communication skills, strategic engagement, and responsible public interaction, helping stakeholders navigate media platforms more effectively and constructively.

Through research-driven design, continuous experimentation, and inclusive engagement, CRF’s Media Literacy program works to build a more skilled, ethical, and resilient media environment—one that supports informed public dialogue and a stronger democratic culture.
